About the Teacher Renewal Fellowship
Our Approach

The Teacher Renewal Fellowship (TRF) consists of exploring three themes and their supporting principles: Embracing Your Philosophy, Engaging Your Students, and Empowering Your Pedagogy.

The Embracing Your Philosophy theme sets a strong foundation for the foundation by guiding fellows in the clarification of their teaching methods with an in person residency day, an online learning opportunity and a cohort session. Engaging Your Students begins with another independent online learning session followed by a cohort session to review and process the tools shared. Finally, Empowering Your Pedagogy brings the fellowship class back together for another residency session to solidify and customize the tools gained over the last few months for each teacher before ending with a final cohort session for reflection.

Different from most professional development programs, the fellowship journey is as personalized as possible, encouraging individual teachers to gain and apply insights related to their unique situation.

Themes and principles are explored through residency and cohort days, using a hybrid approach of both in-person and virtual gathering as well synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities. In person gatherings will take place at one of The Oaks Academy’s campuses in Indianapolis, IN.

Residency Days

Residency Days are extended learning experiences with a blend of reflection through moderated exercises and readings, as well as classroom observations with detailed debriefs.

Small Cohort Sessions

Cohort sessions consist of reviewing residency lessons and group issue processing opportunities. Issue processing invites fellows to bring their unique issues to the table with the intention of enlisting peer feedback through questions and recommendations.
